Over 100 participants, Run Leaders and volunteers took on the week 4 challenge at Darwin Crescent Park, Loughborough.                   Well done to all our C25k runners! We will meet to begin Week 5 on Thursday 4th May at 6.30pm at Darwin Crescent Park, Loughborough LE11 5SA.  Limited street parking is available on Darwin Crescent - please car share where possible, or use Morrison's/Gorse Covert Community Centre car park and walk up 'Bunny Hill' off Maxwell Drive to reach the park.

Couch to 5k: Week 3 (and plans for week 4)

Well done to the host of runners who descended once again on Jubilee Park and completed the 3rd week of the C25k plan, joined once again by several new participants.        Week 4 will see a change of venue - meeting at Darwin Crescent park, Loughborough LE11 5SA on Thursday 27th April at 6.30pm.  There is limited street parking available, so please car share where possible and park with sensitivity to local residents.  Alternatively park on Maxwell Drive or Morrison's Supermarket/Gorse Covert Community Centre, and walk the up grassy hill (Rabbit Hill) to the entrance of the park.

Couch to 5k: week 2 (and plans for week 3)

A host of runners (including 14 new starters) joined Poplar Running Club run leaders and volunteers on a sunny spring evening for week 2 of our 2017 Couch to 5k course at Jubilee Park, Buckingham Drive, Loughborough. After a group warmup, the participants split into two teams (blue and red - ably led by Justin O'Brien and Sarah Johnson) and incorporated run/walk intervals using local roads, the Blackbrook footpath, and Jubilee Park. It was great to see the group growing in confidence and completing the workout in style! The third session on Thursday 20th April at 6.30pm will also take place at Jubilee Park - parking available on local streets (please car share where possible), or at Morrison's supermarket/Gorse Covert Community Centre (walk along the Blackbrook path and over the footbridge to Jubilee Park).…

2017 Couch to 5k: review of week 1 and plans for week 2

        Week 1: 112 new runners joined us for the first week of our 2017 Couch to 5k course at 3M sports ground - a fantastic turnout on a beautiful, sunny spring evening. Poplar Running Club members turned out in force to support, advise and encourage our participants - all completed the first work-out with plenty of laughter and enthusiasm!
